This photo started it all.
Upon discovery of this photo in a local Facebook group, it was around the same time Julian started to have an interest in aerial photography. Julian then set out to recreate this shot and with it the idea to compare the old/new began.

Julian approached Jack over a pint at the Royal Hotel and showed him the historical photo alongside the present day.
Jack, a talented author and childhood mate, shared the same passion for history and storytelling.
The idea for a book began to develop.

By now, Julian had collated a vast catalogue of over 300 historical images from the Mornington Peninsula.
Again, over a pint or 2, the idea gathered momentum and they committed to putting a book together.
Over the next 6 months, they quietly worked away in between their full time jobs to put together their first coffee table book.

After years of talking about it, and months putting in the work, their first book arrived and was met with an overwhelmingly positive response. Selling out of the first 1,000 books within 4 months.
From there, the Origins Series was just beginning and they turned their eyes further abroad to expand the series and discover more about the places that meant the most to them.

Being childhood friends and class mates throughout Primary and Secondary school, they both discovered that their deep appreciation for history, storytelling and architecture started following Year 6 camp at Sovereign Hill.
Although previously discussed, they knew that this was where the second edition needed to be, and work quickly began to expand the Origins series.

With Ballarat underway, there was no time to relax, as our appetite and more importantly our customers appetite was continuing to grow. Where to next?
We knew where we needed to go, and the biggest undertaking to date was about to begin.
Concurrently, alongside the Ballarat edition.

While the third book was beginning to take shape, there was something else in the back of Julian’s mind. A treasure chest of additional imagery from that third book sparked another idea.
Where will this take us?

Origins: Ballarat is expected to be released by the end of July. With numerous pre-orders already sold, they are expecting the release to be just as big, if not bigger than the Mornington Peninsula.
